History

Family business with more than 100 years of tradition.

In 1911, the farmer’s son Johann Ludwig Fuchs-Winistörfer (1874-1943) bought the modest Pension Pilatus in Hergiswil am See, built in 1901. The rooms could not yet be heated, and the few summer guests had to make do with a bunk bathroom. Two world wars and the intervening world economic crisis did not allow for any major development of the business until 1945.

It was not until the economic miracle of the 1950s and 1960s that Jean-Louis Fuchs-Arnet (1903-1975) was able to build two pioneering new buildings adjacent to the existing one. The business grew to its present size by 1970 and was able to establish itself as the first 4-star hotel on the southern shore of Lake Lucerne.

From 1975, the brothers Jürg and Hans Fuchs took over the hotel business in the third generation.

In the years that followed, the traditional hotel with its wonderful view of the lake and mountains experienced a true renaissance. Today, the various rooms are bright and modern. The rooms and the infrastructure have been and are constantly being adapted to meet increasing demands. The modern architectural style of the seminar and banqueting area combines harmoniously with the rustic rooms of the original house.

Carina Fuchs, the daughter of Jürg Fuchs, attended the hotel management school in Lucerne and joined the business in February 2017 as the 4th generation.
